In August 8, 2019, UTCAL (Utilities Telecom & Technology Council America Latina) organized a Workshop on the Impacts of 5G Infrastructure Implementation on Electrical Utilities.

CelPlan, technical partner of UTCAL, presented the session “Overview of Project and Planning in 5G”.

CelPlan’s Manager of Wireless Engineering Services, Eduardo Lamkowski Naka, talked about the considerations required when planning last generation wireless networks, including proper planning based on the know-how and experience of the designer, use of calibrated RF (radio frequency) propagation models, accurate geographical databases and proper frequency band choice and planning. The session also covered the main points to be considered when planning a 5G NR (New Radio) network for low frequency bands: more coverage versus inter-symbol interference.
